Thanks to everyone who came to our 5th Annual Free Pet Portraits & Costume Contest Saturday at My Pets Animal Hospital. There was a great turnout, with about 40 dogs, 1 bird, 1 cat, and 2 rabbits! The costumes were absolutely awesome this year!!! It was a lot of fun! Here is the duo who won 1st place, and the other winners will be announced Wednesday. We are adding a few additional prizes from last year.

The Pet Pageant at Loudon Municipal Park on Saturday was a lot of fun. There were all kinds of dogs there, with their people too. The doggies had cute costumes, and competed in different categories, showing off their tricks. The peanut butter eating contest was awesome too! The doggies loved that! The annual 2009 Pet-A-Palooza at the Enrichment Federal Credit Union was a big success, with lots of people and their pets coming to enjoy the fun, entertainment, informational booths, and meet Kirby of the Enrichment Federal Credit Union and Smoky, our U.T. Vols mascott! Here are a few photos from the Pet-A-Palooza. These are photos of the best vet ever, Dr. Sam Meisler of My Pets Animal Hospital (the person above), and my four doggie “cousins.” We all go to Dr. Sam Meisler of My Pets Animal Hospital, he is great! He takes such good care of us, and his other people are so sweet! It’s fun to lick them, they don’t mind it. They have yummy treats for us all the time. October 24th, my person is doing free pet portraits and having a pet costume contest at My Pet’s Animal Hospital on Northshore Dr., just east of Pellissippi Pkwy. by Blockbuster. Woof! PetSafe Dog Park, PetSafe Village

PetSafe Dog Park is part of PetSafe Village in West Knoxville. Directions to PetSafe Dog Park: From I-40, go North on Lovell Rd., turn right on Murdock. You will pass the Cellular One Soccer Complex Park which I really like. Turn right onto Dutchtown Road. Stay straight on that road which turns into Cogdill Rd. Watch for the signs which say “PetSafe Dog Park” and turn right onto Electric Ave. The park is ahead on the left. The first time you visit there, your person needs to go into the building and sign a waiver. There are also rules posted. Before 5:00 p.m., doggies are supposed to be on leashes. I was the minority in this case. My people kept me on a leash, but the others were not.

There is about an acre at the PetSafe Dog Park. There is a big pond with a trail around it. We walked around the circle, and I explored some on the water’s edge. Other doggies were jumping in and swimming in the water.

Doggies At PetSafe Dog Park

When we first got to the PetSafe Dog Park, I met a doggie that looked a lot like me, but was bigger, much bigger, through the fence. My people talked with his people who were really nice. And those doggies were nice too. Here are some photos of three of the doggies I saw there. It was interesting to watch them play in the water, but I stayed on the trail mostly, except for dipping my feet in the mud a little.

We also saw some other doggies, including a doberman and some other large dogs. Lots of the dogs came up to us and sniffed more than I am used to being sniffed. My person should not have come there with treats in her pocket, because some of the dogs were sniffing her too! It was a bit intimidating, because I was definitely the smallest one there.

There is a fun-looking obstacle course at PetSafe Dog Park, but it is enclosed in a separate fenced-in area, and the gates on it were locked. We were disappointed to not be able to play in there. That is what we have seen photos of before, and wanted to try out. We do not know if it is always locked up other than for classes. When we got home, my people gave me a bath, didn’t want me walking on the carpet with muddy paws.

: Newman And Baby

This is Newman, someone my person knows. She was surprised to see Newman there, and was happy to see Newman’s person that she knows. This was the first time I met Newman though, who is a very well-mannered, nice doggie. We saw each other when they were leaving just as we arrived at the PetSafe Dog Park. Hi, Newman, it was nice to see you!
